APW - Elgin, Father Time with free-sprung balance and winding indicator, Grade 367, 21J, 18S, very heavy 14K gold OF Dubois Watch Case Co. recase with additional marking for retailer Hayden W. Wheeler of New York, gold cuvette with 1920 personalization, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, free-sprung balance with diamond endstone, nickel damascene, s#21869330. Gross weight of assembled watch 93.2 dwt (145.0 g). An excellent example of this scarce free-sprung winding indicator, in notably heavy gold case.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, few small micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with fine scratch left of 3; nearly mint hands; case shows little wear, mild ding to band at 3, few dings at right perimeter lip of rear, no dents, good overall engine turning detail with mild reduction at rear shoulder; tight bow, replacement crown shows light wear and is seated somewhat higher than appropriate on pendant; thick glass crystal is cosmetically excellent but consistently pops out when the case bezel is opened.
